This Privacy Policy describes how 7i1 Play Basics (“the App”), developed by Hunter Thatcher, handles information when you use the iOS application and the companion service at https://api.7i1playbasics.cc.
1. Overview
The App is a beginner-friendly solfege and ear-training tool. It helps you practise the seven notes (Do–Si), complete daily sets, track progress, and optionally take part in shared leaderboards. Practice tones are synthesised on your device. Progress is stored locally, with optional sync of session summaries to the companion API.
2. Information We Process
- Practice data you generate — session results, accuracy, XP, streaks, level progress, and related practice history.
- Profile details you enter — display name and optional avatar photo. The avatar remains on your device.
- Anonymous device identifier — a random device ID stored in the iOS Keychain and sent as
X-Device-Idso the companion API can associate sync, Daily Set, and leaderboard entries without an account or password. - Preferences — sound, reminder, and practice settings stored on your device.
- Support requests — name, email address, and message content if you contact us.
- Technical service data — timestamps and aggregates needed to operate sync, Daily Set ranking, global level statistics, and reliability of the companion API.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide App features on your device.
- To sync session summaries and support Daily Set ranking and leaderboards when online.
- To compute personal and global practice statistics.
- To respond to support or privacy requests.
- To maintain security, reliability, and abuse prevention of the companion service.
4. Local Storage and Optional Sync
Most practice history and preferences are stored locally on your device (for example with SwiftData and on-device caches). When your device is online, queued session summaries, Daily Set results, display name, and related aggregates may be transmitted over HTTPS to our servers. You can reset levels, reset all progress, or clear cached boards from Profile. Deleting the App removes local data on that device.
5. No Advertising or Tracking
The App does not include third-party advertising SDKs, does not sell personal data, and does not use behavioural advertising profiling.
6. Data Retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it or reset progress in the App. Synced records on the companion service are retained while needed to provide the service, or until deletion is requested through the contact email below. Support messages are retained as needed to process your request.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate for a small companion service, including HTTPS transport and device-based access for the API. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is suitable for beginners learning solfege and may be used by a wide age range. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the anonymous practice and device data described above. If you believe a child has provided personal contact details through support, contact us and we will delete them.
9. International Processing
The companion service may be hosted on infrastructure providers (for example cloud hosting platforms). By using sync, Daily Set, leaderboards, or support features, you understand that data may be processed in the regions where those providers operate.
10. Your Choices
- Use core practice features with data stored on your device.
- Reset a level or all progress from Profile → Learning.
- Clear cached leaderboard and deck data from Profile → Data.
- Contact us to request deletion of associated remote records where technically feasible.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be published at https://api.7i1playbasics.cc/privacy. Continued use of the App after changes means you acknowledge the updated policy.
